The Triv-Mitt
This product is a combination Trivet and Oven Mitt. When used as a Trivet it has suction cups that attach to the bottom or your pots or pans. It can also be folded in half and used as an oven mitt. It uses a patented intermittent suction cup technology that activates the suction cups when used as a trivet and deactivates them when used as an oven mitt.
Patented Intermittent Suction Cup Technology
Putting suction cups on an oven mitt is an inherently dangerous idea. When dealing with hot pots and pans, it is important to be able to safely let go of them. Having suction cups on the gripping surface would be a counterintuitive idea.
The intermittent suction cup technology was an elegant solution I discovered. When using the Triv-Mitt as an oven mitt, suction cups are deactivated when the user’s hand is inserted. When using as a trivet, the suction cups are activated by the weight of the pan. This allows the Triv-Mitt to stick to the surface of the pan.
This molded silicone technology was first of its kind and as such, it was awarded a patent.
